In honor of Arab Mother’s Day, Lent/Easter, and Ramadan, Alif Institute will be accepting non-perishable food and personal hygiene items on behalf of Noor Family Services.
In 2018, Alif was proud to recognize Noor Family Services (NFS) with an Arab American High-Achievers (AAHA) Award for their success in delivering their mission to provide free legal services, free counseling, financial assistance, support group, and other supportive services to victims/ survivors of domestic violence and their children. They serve all clients who reach out to them for support, regardless of gender, race, or religion. NFS’s commitment to their clients includes a language line for those who do not speak English.
NFS was founded in 2015 by Ms. Chama Ibrahim and attorney Ms. Fakiha Khan. Mrs. Ibrahim now serves the organization as the co-founder and executive director. She believes her title to be all-encompassing, ranging from tasks such as managing staff, collaborating with agencies, submitting grants, and meeting and interacting with the board of directors and clients. She created NFS to fill the community need that exists surrounding crises of family violence and abuse. NFS recognizes the barriers that culture, language, and loneliness play in each of these situations.
Mrs. Ibrahim hopes her efforts spread the word about NFS’s services in order to provide assistance to individuals in crisis situations. She “doesn’t want people to suffer in silence” and wants to extend care and concern to those in need.
During the months of March 16th – May 14th, you may drop off baby and personal hygiene products, non-perishable food items, or Kroger/Publix gift cards at Alif Institute. All items will be donated directly to NFS clients in need. To drop off donations at Alif Institute, please send us an email or call us at 770-936-8770.
