Alif Institute - Atlanta Georgia

NEW! Levantine Arabic + Summer Intensive

Levantine Arabic

Alif introduces two New Courses: Levantine Arabic & Summer Intensive.

Levantine Arabic - Syria - Lebanon - Palestine - Jordan.

Levantine Arabic is the dialect of Arabic spoken in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine. With over 20 million speakers— and widespread usage in Arabic language music, film, and television— this dialect is understood by most native speakers, all the way from Morocco to Iraq.

Alif Institute is excited to now offer a Levantine Arabic course focusing specifically on the everyday language you hear on the streets of Beirut, Damascus, Jerusalem, Amman, and all through the Levant. The class uses resources with the spoken language transliterated in Latin letters as well as the Arabic alphabet for those already familiar with Modern Standard Arabic.

Summer Intensive - Introductory Arabic

Intensive Introduction to Arabic provides students with a comprehensive base for further studies in Arabic language and culture. It is best to view this as an Arabic “primer” with the aim of giving the students an advantage when continuing to study Arabic. Several months will be covered in just 2 weeks. This will be aided by a fully immersive environment wherein the teacher and students will communicate exclusively in Arabic.

Students will develop five skills: listening, speaking, writing, reading, and culture. By the end of the course, they will be able to:

  • Read, write, and pronounce most of the Arabic alphabet.
  • Use basic greetings and courteous expressions.
  • Introduce themselves and others as well as ask simple questions.
  • Speak about themselves and give simple descriptions.
  • Be familiar with the differences between formal and spoken Arabic.
  • Be familiar with various aspects of the Arab culture such as social customs and traditions.

Dates: Monday through Friday, June 19 - June 30

Course length: 2 weeks / 50 hrs

Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
